*Toshiba launches glasses-free 3D digital TVWednesday, December 22nd 2010The company has claimed its new product is a world first.A digital TV designed to enable owners to watch 3D content without having to wear special glasses has been launched in Japan.Toshiba, which is behind the set, has described the 12-inch model as a world first. It creates images that have the illusion of depth by utilising processing technology and allows users to switch between 2D and 3D, reports AFP.The product is priced at 119,800 yen (£923), while the tech giant is due to release a 20-inch version on Christmas Day.Kazuhito Gunji, a public relations officer at electricals retailer Bic Camera, revealed the company has seen significant demand from consumers about the availability of the TV.Sky and Virgin Media customers may be keen for the set to be brought to market in the UK, given that the two pay-TV providers launched 3D TV services earlier this year.When Sky 3D hit the air in October 2010, the broadcaster described it as the first residential station of its kind in Europe.*
