German weather channel launches on satellite * Jörn Krieger ©RapidTVNews | 30-11-2011 * German weather channel Deutsches Wetter Fernsehen (DWF) has commenced distributing its service via satellite. The channel can be received free-to-air on Astra (19.2° East) within the digital package of parent company ProSiebenSat.1 on the frequency 12.051 GHz V (SR 27,500, FEC 3/4). The background of the move: Germany's largest cable operator Kabel Deutschland will drop the channel from its cable network on 1 December 2011, as a ProSiebenSat.1 spokeswoman told Rapid TV News. To offer the viewers in the coverage area of Kabel Deutschland an alternative reception method, the channel will be available via Astra until further notice. The satellite feed is also used to deliver the DWF (http://www.wetterfernsehen.de/) signal to cable operators continuing to carry the channel, for example Unitymedia and Kabel BW.
