MTN Cyprus signs on for PeerApp caching for online and mobile video * Parent Category 16-07-2013 * PeerApp's UltraBand transparent caching platform has been selected by MTN Cyprus to help it deliver Internet content, including video and multimedia, with reduced associated network congestion and costs. MTN Cyprus offers integrated telecommunications solutions for private and business clients across mobile, fixed telephony and broadband, based on its fibre and HSPA+ networks. UltraBand helps MTN speed content delivery and reduce network costs by automatically detecting and storing popular content, and delivering it locally. MTN Cyprus is the latest MTN operating company to implement PeerApp UltraBand. "As consumer demand grows for video and data content, transparent caching offers a way for us to provide the best possible end-user quality and control network costs by allowing more careful and efficient planning of our international capacity needs," said Yiannis Michaelides, senior manager of switching networks and services planning at MTN Cyprus. "The solution has allowed MTN Cyprus to sustain the increased data traffic demand from our 3G network, fixed broadband (ADSL/VDSL) services and high capacity fibre offerings to corporate customers. Moreover, the fact that other MTN operating companies have already evaluated and successfully implemented UltraBand gave us additional confidence in the solution."
