Juan Fernandez Gonzalez | 31-07-2013Uruguay's Antel has upped its goal for 2013 and now says its fibre network will reach 250,000 more houses before the end of the year.The operator currently has 145,000 families connected and over 0.5 million homes are able to be connected to the network.Antel aims to connect all the department capitals within the coming six months and every town of over 3,500 inhabitants by 2015. The operator is to invest $150 million this year and says it will spend around $290 million over the next two years in order to bring fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) to most of Uruguay's homes.Carolina Cosse, president of the public company, explained on the event of Antel's 39th birthday that Uruguay is above the world average of connected families and also in schools and universities.
