Connected TV set to soar October 9, 2013 07.43 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul LG_connectedtvConnected TV is set for a massive boom over the next few years, with the number of TV sets connected to the internet set to reach 759 million by 2018. The figure, which is for 40 countries covered in the Connected TV Forecasts report by Digital TV Research, is up from 115 million at the end of 2010 and the 307 million expected for the end of this year. It also represents 26.8% of global TV sets by 2018, up from only 5.1% at the end of 2010 and 12.4% at the end of this year. Significantly, connected TV is becoming more international. Although the US will account for a third of TV sets at the end of this year, this will fall to 23.5% by 2018, with China climbing from 6.6% to 16.4% over the same period.
