Hungarian broadband market growsJanuary 24, 2014 10.35 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul Magyar Telekom HQHungary ended 2013 with a total of 2,296,000 fixed broadband subscriptions, according to data produced by the regulator NMHH. Cable accounted for 950,905 of the total, with 44% (419,901) of the latter being via DOCSIS 3.0. The number of xDSL subscriptions meanwhile stood at 772,076, whole the FTTx total stood at 356,429. Magyar Telekom was the leading provider of fixed-line broadband, its 35.7% share being higher than the combined totals of the number two and three players UPC (21.9%) and Digi (13.9%). Invitel was in fourth place (9.4%), followed by Tarr (2.6%), PR-Telekom (2.2%), ViDaNet (1.9%), GTS-Hungary (0.7%) and Parisat (0.5%).
