Velvet tops Spanish viewing figures Details Juan Fernandez Gonzalez | 28 May 2014 Bambú's production Velvet has topped Spain's prime time slot, achieving 4.6 million viewers during the final episode of its first season and getting over five million viewers at one point.The series, broadcast on Antena 3, received a 24% audience share and concluded its first season with an average of 21.8%.Velvet drove the Atresmedia network to lead Monday's prime time slot over recent months, which was previously led by the reality show Survivor on Mediaset's Telecinco.The series' success in Spain has been reflected in the international distribution agreements signed at MIPTV in Cannes. Following the path of El Tiempo Entre Costuras and El Secreto del Puente Viejo, Velvet will try to repeat its success on Italian and French TV through an agreement reached between Beta Films, Italy's RAI 1 and France's M6.Velvet stars Aitana Sánchez-Gijón, José Sacristán and Tito Valverde, among many other well-known names in the Spanish TV fiction sphere. The production centres around a clothes' shop for wealthy Spanish people and is set in 1958.
