Telemundo, NBC Universo unveil FIFA schedule targeting Hispanics DetailsJuan Fernandez Gonzalez | 24 March 2015 NBCUniversal's Spanish-language network Telemundo and NBC Universo have announced details of their plans to telecast FIFA football events throughout 2015, delivering 560 hours of action to sports fans across the US.The extensive coverage will include 344 hours of online and mobile live streams, with coverage focusing on the football stars' journeys to the 2016 Rio Olympics, the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia and the 2022 FIFA Qatar."We are proud to be the first media company to offer such comprehensive coverage of FIFA World Cup events in the United States in Spanish," said Joe Uva, chairman for Hispanic enterprises and content at NBCUniversal.The first FIFA tournament will feature the Men's U-20 national teams, hosted by New Zealand from 30 May to 20 June. Telemundo and NBC Universo, which were selected as FIFA's Spanish-language official broadcasters in October, will stream all 52 matches live and air some of the games - including the final rounds - through their regular networks.One week after the start of the FIFA U-20 World Cup tournament, the Women's World Cup will kick off in Canada with matches taking place from 6 June through to 5 July, with Telemundo and NBC Universo streaming all 52 matches live. Telemundo will also air ten women's matches and NBC Universo will feature 21 live matches.Both networks are also covering the Men's FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup hosted by Portugal between 9-19 July and the final of FIFA World Cup U-17 taking place in Chile in November."We will broadcast more women's and U-20 matches than any other broadcast network in the history of Spanish-language TV," said Luis Silberwasser, president of Telemundo Network. "Our viewers will enjoy the best soccer in the world with the high quality and expert commentary they have come to expect from us."
