NBCUniversal, AOL announce video content partnership DetailsJoseph O'Halloran | 29 April 2015 NBCUniversal has inked a licensing and distribution deal with AOL to bring premium video content to the online giant's platform, across all screens. NBCuniThe content distribution and development agreement encompasses both exclusive and non-exclusive content and will kick in from summer 2015 when NBCUniversal video clips and segments from select entertainment and news programming will be available to stream on the AOL On mobile app, and across 16 over-the-top (OTT) platforms on which the AOL On app is available. Content will be drawn will be from NBCUniversal portfolio of broadcast networks, cable channels and digital networks, including Bravo, CNBC, E!, Esquire, MSNBC, NBC, Oxygen, Syfy, Telemundo and USA. It will also explore how AOL brand experts can appear across certain NBCUniversal linear TV properties, and AOL and NBCUniversal will co-develop and co-produce original online video series for distribution over the NBCUniversal and AOL platforms, and are in discussions on creating weekly live programming together. "AOL was an early leader in digital video, doubling down on both premium original video content and the creation of an open video platform that focuses on deep economics of scale within an increasingly converging media ecosystem," said AOL president Bob Lord explaining the deal. "Key to this strategy are partnerships with some of the world's most renowned media companies, and we are thrilled to be able to put NBCUniversal's premium video programming front and centre for AOL multi-platform users."
