Sky (http://skytv.at/satsuk) now has more than 2.5 million UK broadband customers, the company has announced.

This puts it behind BT (five million), Virgin Media (4.18 million) and TalkTalk (4.15 million) as the fourth largest ISP in the UK.

However, despite the jump of 101,000 broadband customers in the last quarter the company said that its broadband and telephony businesses didn't quite break even.

Fortunately for the company, though, the vast majority of its broadband customers - 1.9 million - are on 'triple-play' packages and take not just broadband but telephone and TV products from the company too.

Sky (http://skytv.at/satsuk) recently announced that it would be simplifying its broadband offering this summer and will only have two products available from 1 June.

Virgin Media announced its results for the first quarter of 2010 earlier this week, saying that it had signed up more than 57,000 customers on its 50Mbps package.

The UK's fifth-biggest ISP, Orange, recently announced that it was giving control of its unbundled ADSL2+ network to BT.
