*Sky to launch Nickelodeon HD Friday, September 24th 2010 Kids' channel Nickelodeon HD will launch in the UK on Sky towards the start of next month. Sky's high-definition (HD) TV subscribers will have the opportunity to watch hours of crystal-clear cartoons and other kids' entertainment courtesy of Nickelodeon. Parent company MTV Networks International (MTVNI) revealed Nickelodeon HD will be available on Sky from October 5th 2010, following the launch of Comedy Central HD earlier this summer. This move means that MTVNHD, the company's first international HD service, will no longer broadcast regular Nickelodeon programmes and will instead concentrate on music-based content. President of MTVNI Bob Bakish said the group is committed to investing further in HD TV across its "industry leading brands", which also include VH1, VIVA and TMF. "These new HD services will create stronger bonds with our kid, youth and adult audiences, as well as provide innovative new products to cable and satellite operators," he added. Earlier this month, Sky announced that more than 30 per cent of its customers - representing over three million subscribers - are now signed up to HD TV.*
