*TIM and Sky to launch Brazilian pay-TV service* _ Iñaki Ferreras ©RapidTVNews | 10-12-2011 _ Brazilian telco TIM has signed a joint venture with Sky for a pay-TV service, which will be launched early next year. TIM already owns a fibre-optic network, which operates under the name TIM Fiber, and which reaches over 21 cities in San Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. "We were not present in this market because we believed that telcos didn't have the necessary tools to innovate in the area, even in regard to DTH, which is now responsible for the service. This is why we were looking for a partner with experience in the field," said Rogério Takanayagi, president of TIM Fiber. Takanayagi added that he is negotiating with Netflix, the online streaming platform.
