*FilmOn takes legal route to online TV * _ Editor ©RapidTVNews | 03-01-2012 _ Having apparently learned its lessons from its legal battle with leading US TV stations whose content it carried, FilmOn is to launch a legally approved channel to watch local network TV on PCs and mobile devices. "In 2010 FilmOn ended up in an on-going legal battle with all four of the Major Networks CBS, NBC, ABC and FOX, over FilmOn's right to carry their signals over the Internet. The case is on-going and FilmOn expects to settle the dispute this year," said Alki David, CEO and Founder of FilmOn. "FilmOn has licensed over 120 HD online television channels and has even launched its own College Sports and Live Soccer Channels but the challenge has been in legally bringing Major Network programming to our line-up whilst respecting the Network's traditional business models," he assured the industry. In February 2012, FilmOn Labs will be shipping to all its US based subscribers the FilmOn AIR device which tunes into over the air ATSC Digital signals being transmitted by the networks and other local broadcasters. It is compatible with Windows, Mac, Android and Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod iOS devices. FilmOn AIR, is free with every annual US based subscription to FilmOn and will be based on the next generation of the FilmOn App which delivers an EPG (Electronic programming guide) that contains 120 online HD Channels and will be available for free download in the Apple App Store or the Droid Market Place.
