* ARRIS partners with Wurl to bring OTT to STBs * * Editor | 22 July 2014 * Broadcast technology provider ARRIS has entered into a partnership with online video programming and metadata firm Wurl to allow cable operators to combine over-the-top (OTT) content with traditional programming. The fruits of the partnership, ARRIS Market, is a standards-based open platform that features an HTML5 interface designed to integrate the many OTT content choices into a single experience. ARRIS Market is also designed to give operators what the two firms says is 'unprecedented flexibility' in branding the look and feel of the environment with the ability to customise the organisation of content. "The Wurl (http://www.wurl.com) platform enables cable operators using the ARRIS Whole Home Solution to give their subscribers access to a broad selection of popular streaming services without the complex set-up of additional third-party devices or smart TV technology," explained Wurl CEO Sean Doherty. "This new capacity to select and discover both traditional and OTT content from one remote control has exciting implications for the future of set-top functionality." "We view the launch of the ARRIS Market as a cornerstone in developing and deploying tomorrow's interactive video services," added ARRIS (http://www.arrisi.com) SVP and GM, consumer solutions Debbie Stackis. "We continue to advance our roadmap and focus on the principles of quality, flexibility, and efficiency to foster our leadership position in content delivery."
