ESPN Player secures rights to NHL games in 61 countriesDecember 10, 2019 14.36 Europe/London By Robert Briel ESPN Player has secured the rights to broadcast three live NHL games a week in 61 countries across Europe and Africa.The coverage starts this week in countries including Belgium, Italy, Greece, Spain, Turkey, Nigeria, South Africa, Hungary, Romania, and covers all of sub-Saharan AfricaFans in the countries will be able to access three live games per week during the regular season, which will also be made available on demand, as the world’s best ice hockey teams compete to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs.In the NHL postseason, ESPN Player will make every game of the Stanley Cup Playoffs available live and on demand, from the first round through to the final.Coverage began in the early hours of Tuesday morning, December 10, as the Calgary Flames travelled to take on the Colorado Avalanche. Midnight on Wednesday sees a clash of two of the NHL most impressive teams so far this season, as the Washington Capitals welcome the Boston Bruins.Subscribers will also have access to ESPN Player’s comprehensive coverage of NCAA College Football and Basketball, as well as a range of critically ESPN films and documentaries, including the Academy Award-winning five-part film, OJ: Made In America.
