Broadband milestone for Moldova December 11, 2019 10.10 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul The fixed broadband market grew significantly in Moldova in the first nine months of this year. According to figures published by the regulator ANRCETI, the amount of sales increased by 6.1% to MDL1.16 billion (€59.3 million). At the same time, the number of subscribers to such services grew by 5.2% to 655,700. Meanwhile ARPU per subscriber decreased by 1.2% to MDL176.8. The number connected to coaxial cable increased by 14.3% to 50,700, equivalent to 7.7% of the pay-TV total, while those opting for xDSL decreased by 8.4% to 166,800, or 25.4% of fixed broadband subscribers. Other technologies decreased by 25.4% to 1,800, or 0.3% of the total. Fixed broadband penetration rose by 1.6 percentage points to 24.5%. Significantly, over half (55.2%) of fixed broadband subscribers benefited from speeds of between 30-100 Mbps, while 13.8% could access the internet at over 100 Mbps.
