Fibre grows in RomaniaDecember 11, 2019 10.28 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul Around two thirds of fixed broadband connections in Romania are now made through FTTH or FTTB.According to data published by the regulator ANCOM, the figure stood at 62% as of the middle of this year. At the same time, 71%, or 3.7 million, of fixed broadband connections were at high speeds of at least 100 Mbps. RCS&RDS (Digi) was the market leader with a share of 52%, followed by Telekom (22%), UPC (12%) and other providers (14%). The total number of fixed broadband connections remained at 5.1 million in mid-2019, slightly increasing by 1%. Of these, 3.1 million (+0.2%) were in urban areas and 1.6 million (+2%) in rural areas.
