Ukraine enacts ad lawJanuary 15, 2020 11.36 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul All advertising in Ukraine will have to be in the state language from this Thursday, January 16.In a statement, the regulator National Council says that this is as a result of a new law that was approved by the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian parliament) on April 25 last year. It applies to all media, including TV. At the same time, foreign broadcasters and broadcasters broadcasting in one or more of the official languages of the EU may, in addition to the national language, place advertising in the official languages of the EU. The new law has also amended the Code of Administrative Offences and violations of the law will initially result in a warning, followed by a fine.
