BT is introducing a range of TV packages that will allow customers to change the channels they receive on a monthly basis. At the same time the telco is launching NOW TV, giving customers access to channels including Sky Sports and Sky Atlantic. It already has Amazon Prime Video, Netflix and its own BT Sport available. The new 24-month packages launch on February 21. Packages start at £10 per month, with a series of content ‘bolt-ons’ that allows customers to upgrade or downgrade on a monthly basis.Marc Allera, CEO of BT’s Consumer division said: “Life doesn’t stand still from month to month, so we don’t believe our customers’ TV should either.”NOW TV has been fully integrated with the BT TV platform, meaning customers can now watch, pause, rewind and record premium Sky Entertainment and Sky Sports content on the BT TV platform.BT’s entry-level Entertainment package at £10 is drawn from the NOW TV offer, there’s also Sport (£15) with all four BT Sport channels, Big Entertainment (£20) combines Sky Atlantic and Sky One with over 300 Box Sets and all Sky Cinema channels.Big Sport (£40) combines the BT Sport with the Sky Sports channels and VIP (£60) brings all the packages together. There are additional bolt-ons covering Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and more from the NOW TV offer.Paolo Pescatore, an analyst with PP Foresight said it was a long overdue move: “BT has done a superb job of introducing some novel features and bringing together key services all in one place. This will strongly resonate with users. However, it is unlikely to pose a considerable threat to Sky who in turn will be able to bundle BT Sport into its own packages. In the future expect this new TV platform to be bundled with BT Halo which will further strengthen its premium convergent offering.”
