Czech TV to launch new channelMarch 19, 2020 08.42 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul The Czech public broadcaster Ceske Televize (CT) will launch a new channel on Monday, March 23.Known as CT3, it will be aimed at the elderly, who are the most vulnerable group in society during the national emergency. On air daily from 9.30am to 5.25pm, its programme offer will be based on a select from the Golden Television Fund, thematic magazines and basic information service. Commenting on the development, CT’s CEO Petr Dvorak said: “We want to serve another large group of our viewers in this difficult situation. We are already broadcasting special educational blocks for schoolchildren and parents, and now we are focusing on the most vulnerable group of the population who spend the most time at home. Television broadcasting has grown for several generations and thanks to our rich archive we can offer content tailored to their needs, supplemented by an information service and newly produced magazines with practical advice. We want to bring the audience a good mood and evoke pleasant memories.“For the time being, this will be a temporary broadcast. Given the current emergency situation, we were forced to suspend most of the programmes, so we can temporarily channel funds to this programme”.CT3 will be available immediately terrestrially, though only in the DVB-T2 standard, as well as via cable and DTH.
