Patrick Le Lay dies aged 77March 19, 2020 11.56 Europe/London By Julian Clover Former TF1 CEO Patrick Le Lay has died at the age of 77, his son Laurent Eric Le Lay announced on Wednesday.A public works engineer by trade he led the Bouygues group that bought the former French public broadcaster when it was privatised in 1987. Le Lay went on to lead the broadcaster for the next two decades.In a statement, Gilles Pélisson, Chairman and CEO of the TF1 Group said: “Patrick Le Lay was a visionary for the world of modern television, a great entrepreneur and a daring entrepreneur who knew how to create the solid foundations of a television group that we continue to build on today. All my thoughts go out to his family and loved ones.”
